Elderly couple arrested over $280K CTP Scam

An elderly couple have been arrested by Strike Force Ravens after a morning raid in their home in Hinchinbrook, south-west Sydney for allegedly defrauding the compulsory third-party (CTP) insurance scheme.

Strike Force Ravens was set up in August 2016 to investigate syndicates targeting the CTP insurance scheme, as proposed by the CTP Task Force, an NSW government initiative coordinated by the State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA).

A 72-year-old man and a 71-year-old woman have been arrested for allegedly submitting $280,000 of fraudulent CTP insurance claims relating to a crash at Hinchinbrook in April 16, 2015 and were charged with one count of conspiring to cheat and defraud, Daily Mail Australia reported.

The two were both granted conditional bail and are set to appear at Liverpool Local Court on July 18.
